My Dad and Daniel have been working yesterday and today to meet the mandatory "less than 4 inch gap" policy. They have been trying to bend wood to make it match the arch in the metal - they have snapped beams and rails, but all in all, it's turning out pretty good. See for yourself!

After = 3 inch space
Now Baby will not get it's head stuck, or be able to crawl through the banisters! And - it only cost a couple hundred dollars for the wood by doing it themselves. Thank God! We still need to add a rail at the bottom because the gap is too big between the bottom rail and the actual stairs. We also have to do the railing at the front door, below and also by the bedrooms upstairs. I'll post another picture when they are all painted and finished. Thanks for all your prayers - we saved about 2,800$ by doing it this way!
